Learned a variety of German wonderments in my mothers and Aunts and finally my mother-in-laws kitchen. Made my first spatzle at age 10. Have a recipe for making Baumkkuchen at home. -There are recipes in my personal files from the first course to the last. My library is considerable!

Question
I read your recipe for oven roasted schweinhaxen and and wondering if you have a recipe for spit roasted schweinhaxen like was served at the Haxenbaur in Munich. Also do you know where I might be able to buy the fresh pork shanks in Chicago?

Thank you

Answer
Sorry Steve, no recipes for spit roasted Schweinshaxen.Try a Google search for Schweinshaxen to be found in Chicago. Schaller and Weber in N.Y. sells hocks/knuckles. Not sure if they will mail order..Give them a try at :
