Please, what exactly does this phrase mean? There is a kind of contrast, isn't there, between the groß and the klein?
Best wishes,
Simon
Answer Hello Simon
- "gross ausgehen" means spend a lot of money for amusements (dinner, drinks, bars)
- klein zusammen kuscheln is a play of words in contrats to "gross" ausgehen, normally you would only say "zusammen kuscheln"
but here it means to make his body small, to near arms and legs in order to fit in the lap of this other person... (snuggle)
There is as well the notion in this context that you don't need any money for snuggeling, but that you need a lot of money for "gross ausgehen"... :-) (my guess of interpretation, it's like a publicity slogan, because it arouses attention because there is something strange, not fitting, but analysing it, there might have been some poetic intuition or connotations of the author... :-)
"sich klein machen" to make oneself small for "kuscheln", but it is an artificial, not a normal construction... in contrast to "gross ausgehen"
