QUESTION: how do you pronounce the verb reden in German?

ANSWER: [ə] wird nicht gesprochen:
• nach den Plosiven [t] und [d], nach Frikativen (außer nach <r, rr, j>) sowie nach dem Lateral [l], z.B. wetten, reden, lachen, rufen, wis-sen, wollen

QUESTION: Thanks for your answer Kurt. But what about the first "e" of the verb reden? How do you pronounce that? Like an "i" (e.g. der Pilot) or like an "e" (e.g. der Name) ? Can you please give me an example?
