Question
QUESTION: the father of my son is already married and the son has a german passport. is it possible that my son could have the right for a share of legacy when somthing happens to the father of my son?

ANSWER: Dear Fe,
According to German law the wife of your son's father will inherit 50 percent and the children of her husband will have to split the other 50 percent. It doesn't matter that you are not married to your son's father. Your son will get a equal share if a testament is not stating anything different.

If a testament is existing your son will at least inherit a Pflichtteil (that means he has the right to claim half of what he would inherited according to German law if no will would exist).

Sincerely,
C. Burgess

QUESTION: he gives us support and the support of my son is 300 euro a month. he is in high school . what do u think the legal support fees should be?

his father earns a good pay for his business around asia and he owns the company. is it possible that i could ask him a little bit more? because its not enough for my son and thats why i put him in public high school.

sincerly yours,
Fe Hartley

Answer
Dear Fe,

If you live in the US the child support will be calculated according to US law. I can only help to enforce it if the father lives and works in Germany. In that case you can contact me at csb@germanlegalservices.com. I charge $130.00 per hour.
Sincerely,
C, Burgess
