German Law/Documents needed

Does German law requires the surviving husband to provide an official copy of their marriage certificate to the funeral home in order for them to provide you a copy of his deceased wife death certificate.

Dear Uwe,

The Standesamt is responsible for the issuing of the death certificate. I guess that the funeral home just helping you out in your case. Unfortunately it is common that the Standesamt is asking for a copy of the marriage certificate.
