German Shepherds - GSD adoption question, purebred, coat ID?

Expert: Lori Iverson - 7/12/2009

Question
At this time I am in the market for a GSD but am considering possibly helping out with a dog in need from a rescue organization. However, still want a purebred GSD (this will be for pet quality family companion). Since I regard you an expert on the breed, I can think of no better qualified person to give me advise and an answer to my query.

Very simply put, would you say this dog in the link below appears to you to be a purebred GSD, or mixed? If purebred what kind of coat will he have?

Also, any concerns would you have/advise for me considering adopting this dog given what I'm looking for? I noticed the dog has a floppy ear. Given its age at 7 months, I assume it will probably remain floppy?

There are 3 or 4 pics of the dog here:

Thank you.

Answer
Hi Eugene,

I have not been able to access your pictures so cannot give an opinion, can you email them another method?  Or insert into the question?   Someone else did this.  An floppy ear at 7 months is unlikely to go up even with expert taping.  It is really nice for you to rescue a dog so if he has the temperament you are looking for that is the most important thing.

I am sorry I could not get back to you sooner, I have had no internet for several days.

Lori
