German Shepherds/Lifespan

The average life span of a German Shepered is 12 years, even though they can live for a good 15 years if treated right and exercised regulary?

Well....our sheperd "Lucky" lived to the age of

19 yrs old.....very intelligent dog...great with children. I think the secret(s) are: a good diet,

a large property to run loose......and ofcourse....a mate for companionship.

The answer of 12 years is pretty close. If your GSD is in good health, feeding & exercise, could go longer. I've been breeding for about 35 yrs. The oldest we ever had was 13, who died of cancer. If she was in poor health she wouldn't have lasted that long, per our vet. A happy, active & loved dog is important, too.
