Question What all steps should I take to get german visa. I am an indian citizen but living temporarily in US for past 1.5 years. I have no clue how to go ahead. My trip may be around 3-5 days.
Answer Hi SJ
[Note: If you leave the USA getting back to the USA might be difficult if you are a "temporary" citizen. Please check with US officials or an advisor as what your exact status is. Also, For quick process you must have a return airticket and a passport valid for at least 6 months]
Applications for German visas are ALWAYS made at your current nearest German Consul or Embassy. A list of these offices and the various types of visas are described at: http://www.traveldocs.com/de/embassy.htm
http://germany.visahq.com/embassy/United-States/
There are two new ways to get a visa easy for Germany;
- a student visa if you are under 36 (Attend a course or study)
- blitz visa if you leave a €2500 deposit at your home consul.
Getting visas is not easy, world wide 50% of visas are refused. Once refused, even because a small mistake, another application is more difficult. When you apply make sure the information required is complete and accurate and the correctly paid, also that enough time (plan at least 4 weeks)is scheduled.
I hope this helps a bit, ask the other experts too for more ideas.
