Subject: MOM Translation?

Question
Hello,
I wanted to know if you could tell me the translation of the word "MOM" from english to German? I'm part German but don't speak it and am planning on getting a tattoo of the word but don't want to get the wrong thing.
Thanks so much,

Answer
Dear Abby,
thank you for your question.
Mom can be translated with Mama or Mami. Mami is even more childlike and very rarely used by adults. But quiet a few people call their mother Mama all their life and even use it to refer to her when speaking with other people, so I think that this comes closest to Mom.
I hope I was of some help to you
Jennifer
