Any question generally about Germany or Europe too.
Question Hello, I will be in Germany for one month this summer, and I was wondering if you could tell me the names of some of the least expensive German train systems, and the best way of getting tickets! I don't mind if they are very slow. Can I get a discounted pass for multiple trips? Thank you so much!
The cheapest fares are the "Lander-Tickets" in which one can travel the whole day after 9am till 5am within a state (like Bavaria). That costs only €20 ( or €30 for a group of 5 passengers).
Most trains run on a tact of one hour so only the "ICE" bullet trains are ultra fast.
Travelling from centre to centre of two cities in Germany is often much faster by train than getting to the airport and waiting for a flight!
Some travellers pay €13 extra for a bunk in the "Nacht-Zug", night trains.
