Answer
Hi Bedo

There are many places for a couple of mixed nationality to get married that have different requirements:

1) Marrying in Germany
This is a very long and complicated procedure. Your girlfriend must check with her local city hall ("Kreisverwaltungsreferat")who will explain the two year procedure. This is expensive too and will need official translation of your papers.

2) Marrying in Egypt
I think this is uncomplicated and believe that after six months of residence (both partners) in Egypt the marriage is accepted in Germany but please check with a consultant.

3) Marrying in a third country
There are countries where it is much simpler to marry like the Bahamas, Denmark or others. I married my Filipina in Denmark. Required was:
- 14 days application in advance
- €80 payment
- birth certificates
- proof of nationality (valid passport)
- proof of residence or stay in Europe ("Aufenthaltsbescheinigung")
- proof of divorce (if applicable)
- three day stay in Denmark
The marriage is then reported at the local Embassy and then City Hall.

ANSWER: Hi Shiekh

Marriage of a European to a foreigner in Europe can be a very complicated and expensive matter requiring a lot of time and patience, specially in Germany. There is a hoard of documents required, to be officially translated and the procedure takes 1 to 3 years. Your girlfriend can get a list of requirements from her local town hall.

Certainly visit your loved-one with a tourist visa to make arrangements for marriage here. You cannot marry with a tourist visa, that visa is only intended for what it is applied for, to visit on holiday or pleasure and return to your home country. One may not work either with a tourist visa.

The correct visa is the "financee visa", quite hard to get, only a small percentage are issued.

It is far quicker and easier to marry in YOUR home country then return to Germany as a couple.

There is also small smart trick I used 5 years ago. I brought my lovely Filipina to Germany on a normal tourist visa which includes the possibility to visit the European "Schengen States" and we travelled to Denmark to get married. All that is required there is proof of identification, birth certificate, registration certificate as a staying visitor from the local German town hall and about $50. One must stay in Denmark at least 3 days during the marriage. For about $400 http://www.heiraten-online.de made all the arrangements, including hotel for us. When returning to Germany the marriage is reported and registered at the Philippines Embassy in Berlin after which a longer "Aufenthaltserlaubnis" can be obtained and even "Arbeitserlaubnis" (work permit). Which-ever way, keep to the rules and regulations. These may change anytime, also see and understand (in English):

Answer:    Hi again

Any legally married couple anywhere in the world have the right to live together. Once I was married, my wife then had a right to stay in Germany. The paperwork must be completed though for the marriage to be legal and recognised. The marriage must be registered at the embassy of the foreigner and the marriage must be reported at the local town hall so that an "Aufenthaltserlaubnis" (living permit) replaces the visa. Once the foreigner has an Aufenthaltserlaubnis he/she may travel in and out of Europe many times. Note, this is not the case in the USA where the applicant must remain in the USA until permanent residence is granted.

The Danish authorities need proof of temporary residence in Germany so at the town hall of your girl friend you get a one page certificate called "Aufenthaltsbescheinigung" once you are here visiting her.

I am not an expert with these matters so I cannot consult directly. Please have your girlfriend get further information directly from the local town hall and for matters in Denmark can ask anything at the very friendly people at www.heiraten-online.de

Good Luck and God bless
