AboutJames Derheim Expertise I live part of the year in Rothenburg ob der Tauber and so know a great deal about this town. I can also help with questions about the Rhein River Valley, Neckar River Valley, Mosel area, Erzgebirge,
Bamberg area, Black Forest and more. Because of time constraints, I will not help you plan your entire travel itinerary.
Experience I have lived and worked in Europe since 1989, homebased in Germany. I own and operate "European Focus Private Tours" along with my wife Jenean. We have helped more than 600 clients get the most out of their trips to Europe through our unique, custom-designed and fully escorted private tours.

Past/Present Clients Have served more than 500 people through my company "European Focus Private Tours" which provides custom-designed, private itineraries to people in the USA, Canada and elsewhere. I personally escort all tours. The largest group we've had in our 14-year career was 17, the smallest, 1. (I actually have many singles tours) I spend from April through October in Germany each year, leading tours in not just Germany but also Italy, Ireland, England, the Czech Republic and 13 other countries. There is no other company in the world like European Focus, because only European Focus sets the itinerary around what our guests want to see and do.
Question QUESTION: Hello James!
We host a food and beverage radio show. Our theme this week is Oktoberfest. Would you be interested and available to do a 5-minute interview by phone this Saturday, September 26? Time is approximately 10:30 a.m. Central Time U.S.
ANSWER: Hello Barbara,
I'm working in Germany right now and on Saturday will be in Berchtesgaden with my two clients. I could be available.
May I ask what questions you intend to ask? (Basic idea) I want to be sure that I'm the man for you to talk to.
Best wishes,
James Derheim

QUESTION: We're thinking:
A little history (what it was then...what it is now)
A few short tips (what you need to know when you go to Oktoberfest...Finding the best tent, what to eat with your beer, etc.)
We'd like to capture (in 5 minutes) what it's like to be there. I was there years ago -- so could compare notes.
Does this sound like it't up your alley? At the end of the segment, we'll promote your business and put a link to a website if you'd like.
Many thanks for considering our show!
Answer Hi Barbara,
Sure, I can handle this.
I will be at the Alpenhotel Zechmeisterlehen in the Berchtesgaden area on Saturday.
The direct telephone number to the hotel is 011 49 8652 9450.
I'm well-known there, so just ask for "James Derheim" and they will connect you to my room.
The staff speaks English.
Can I suggest a side topic? "Is Munich really the best fall festival?" In my opinion, Stuttgart beats the heck out of Munich. Of course, Munich is more famous so we can talk about that.
However, in the last decade or so it has become a parody of itself with thousands of ridiculously drunk Australians competing with thousands of ridiculously drunk Americans to see who can act the most stupid. I've been three times to the Munich version and prefer 1000% Stuttgart, which is far more authentic.
