Question I was told a couple of years ago that students who are gifted are included in special education law and could recieve an individualized education plan. I have beeen perusing the law but I can't find anything. Any thoughts?
Answer Hello Tammy,
Many gifted children do have Individualized Education Plans. It would depend on your school board or district depending on which country you live in.
I would hope that your public school would be looking out for what is best to help meet the needs of gifted children.
Ask if they have gifted programs? Ask about grade acceleration? An IEP is good but if it isn't followed, it ultimatley serves no purpose.
