Question
Hey there, we are new to the Boer goat business and we have had 2 wonderful births, one goat had 3 kids and the other had 2.  The one who had 2 kids was a week ago today.  I noticed last night that she had a little bit of blood on her bag and her side.  Didn't think anything of it and went on.  Well, tonight I noticed she had more blood on her back; checked and blood is dripping out of her pa-to-ty area, not to heavy but heavy enough. Its not yellow or slimy.  I was wondering if she is having a cycle already or maybe something else was going on.
She is nursing good and ate okay tonight, not running around like usual but she is up and eating.

Answer
HI Shayla,

If this is reddish and no real odor to it- it is perfectly normal. If it is brownish and has a definite  odor, this may be a uterine infection - Usually after the initial birthing  discharge the does will look clean for a week to 10 days after kidding only then to have what appears to be a menstrual cycle  for a week or two - this is normal. If the afterbirth was delivered and the doe is healthy and again the color is good and no odor I would not worry about it.
