Question Hello I live in hawaii and have 5 month old nubian kid billy who has not been looking very good for the past 2 weeks. We have dewormed him with the positive pellets and also ivormectin paste and just took a sample of his stool to the vet and got a negative test result. I also noticed that his stool is very runny but he is still eating and drinking okay. He also seems very bloated and glands on his neck is very swollen. Please do you have any suggestions on what I can do I really don't want to lose him he belongs to my 2year old son.
Answer HI Wendy,
Get some Ivomec Plus injectable dewormer and inject it subQ 1cc/40lbs and again in 10 days and again in another 10 days. The swollen neck sounds like bottle jaw from anemia. Positive pellets really do not work well and the paste is really for horses, the injectable works much better. I have an article on my website about deworming this way and why-
go to my site http://Goat-Link.com
Look at the goat parasite menu for the article called deworming info- the top one in that menu - also have photos of bottle jaw and a chart to check eye color.
Let em know if this looks like what he has with his neck
