Goats - Dying Billy
Expert: Cheryl K. Smith - 11/1/2009
Question My billy has a distended anal opening, left and right side swelling and is down. Won't chew cud, screams. Acts constipated. Min spirits did no good. I suspect at least an intestinal perferation at this point. Can you tell me anything that can keep me from sending this animal to the camp of the dead.
Answer I just got your message and it's been hours since you wrote, so I may be too late. Sounds like an obstruction. If he is still around, he need some pain medication such as banamine. You could try to do an enema or give milk of magnesia. Is he young or old?If it was a perforation, I would expect blood.
