Goats/young doe

The eyelids are very pale pink to white. What is barber pole worm ? How to treat ? I could barely feel ligaments last night , felt pretty mushy too in that area

Thanks for the update.  Barber pole worm is an intestinal worm that causes anemia (what the Famacha eye chart was designed for).  Treatment is use of Safeguard oral horse wormer finding the dose by using three times the body weight of the goat and then finding the dose on the plunger, and putting the lock on that line or just above (cannot overdose with this, but underdosing will not help) then you give this amount once a week each week for three weeks time.  At the same time you treat for anemia - using Geritol liquid or iron tablets - use of twice human dosing once a day for 7 days - if you use iron tablets you must crush and dissolve the tablets first.  None of this will hurt the kids either inside or once they are drinking from mom.  Sounds like she is getting close.  Hope this helps - Donna
