Question
Hi Donna , been a while , but need some advice . I have a sick young goat Saanen , has had worms , treated for cocci , and liver fluke , and lice . He was doing better then the poops started again so started treating for cocci again , been 4 days and another round Ivermectin plus in case liver fluke . Noticed some swelling last night and this morning his face is like a balloon , bottle jaw and around the eyes , but he doesn't seem that anemic at least color of eyelids etc . Also started new cell yesterday . Never seen swelling this bad before . He is drinking milk but seems to be all and electrolytes , but solids he doesn't seem to want now , probably hard to chew with all the swelling

Answer
So you are looking at lower inner eyelids?  Re the liver fluke only fenbendazole/Safeguard helps with that.  If poop/diarrhea is green then it is cocci, otherwise it is something else causing the loose poop.  This sounds like bottle jaw but could be an infection.  If it is bottle jaw then it is barber pole worm or liver fluke and he would need three course of fenbendazole oral - for the horse wormer you use three times the goat's weight given once a week for three weeks.  Does he have a fever? If he does then we are dealing with an infection and he would need injectable antibiotics.  Hope this helps - DOnna
