Question I am a sophomore in high school and have been playing the game for about 5 years. I started off with these U.S kid irons around when i was 12 to 13 and hit them great. I started growing a little bit and I am now 5'5" which is still not very tall, but i did not want my height to get in the way of my game or have my height put me down. When i turned 15 which is the age im at now i started using these new mizuno mp-30 irons. When im in the fairways every once in a while i will hit the ball to the bone and it will fly low but will sometimes roll pretty far, and then other times i will hit the irons great. It's just my problem is sometimes i cannot rely on these irons as much as i could my us kids ones, and these ones are a little heavier and are cut a little under standard size. There are also other times where i can snap-hook the ball which drives me crazy, and then there are just some days when im hitting it fairly good i went out today and played with my dad and shot a 6 over on the front and a 5 over on the back. I dont really know if you have had this question or situation before but i really want to make the high school team and was wondering if you could help me out with that thank you for your time
Answer Josh,
After reading your questions a couple of times, this is my response to you. It appears that you were very comfortable with your first set of clubs. You played with them for 2 - 2 & 1/2 years. When making the change to the Mizunos, there certainly will be an adjustment period. Continue to practice and get a lesson or two from a PGA professional. Seeing you swing the club he/she will be able to help you out. Also ask if the clubs (shaft flex, length, etc.) are the right ones for you.
