Question Tee off to par three. We think ball is in the water. Water hazard (yellow stakes)Drop zone on tee side for those who don't cross the hazard with tee shot.
Player announces will play provisional.
Question: Can they play from the drop zone or must they play from where they hit the last ball which was the tee. I thought it was the tee box..
Answer Marie:
There is no such thing as a Provisional ball for a water hazard (only for a lost ball or out of bounds). They must play under the water hazard rule if ball is in the water. If it is stated in the rules of the event that the drop zone can be used on that hole if a ball goes in the water, then that is legal to use it and drop one in there, hitting their third shot from the drop zone. If they choose to hit again from the tee box, that is one of their options, and they would be hitting three from the tee.
