Question
If a yardage marker (pole stake) is between you and your intended shot line are you allowed to remove the stake from the ground to make your shot? Are they considered moveable objects in the course of play?

Answer
Hello Roman,

Thanks for asking this question.

Yes. Yardage stake is normally considered as a movable Obstruction in this situation.

In Rule 24-1, it says:
A player may take relief without penalty from a movable obsruction with removal of obstruction.
A ball can be either lifted or not depending where the ball is (lie in or on the obstruction, or not lie in or on the obstruction).

Thanks.
