Question Micheal
When a longest drive compition is held and it is
not stated that the ball must be on the fairway.
Does this mean the ball must be on the
fairway even if no body makes the fairway and
it only says longest drive 13 th holes.
Thanks
Answer Jamie,
It appears this was an oversight by the competition committee. Typically, when a long drive contest is held, the ball must be in the fairway.
Literally speaking, if this was not posted on the rules sheet or on the long drive sign, it could mean that the ball doesn't have to be in the fairway.
I guess if no one hit the fairway this would be a moot point.
