Golf - golf ball compression

Expert: Ken Tannar - 3/16/2006

Question
I have a club head speed of about 120. I currently use top flight xl 3000 as my golf ball. It has a 90 compression. With my club head speed should I be using a different golf ball with different compression? What ball would you recommend. Please advise.

Todd

Answer
Hi Todd,

With a clubhead speed ofr 120 (I assume you mean mph), you don't have a problem achieving distance. You should be playing with a soft/feel ball which will give you ample of spin on irons and touch around the green. You wouldn't notice a significant decrease in distance playing the Titleist ProV1, which I would recommend.
If you can't afford playing a high performance ball, you can still get soft/feel balls that would do the job.

See www.golf-ball-vacation.com  for my recommendations. It's the sister site of my main site, www.probablegolfinstruction.com.

Please patronize my site.

Best regards,
Ken Tannar
