AboutBobbert Expertise I have been into computer hardware, especially 3D graphics and the hardware that drives them, for a number of years. I have knowledge in installation, use, troubleshooting, purchase suggestions and overclocking.
A few days ago my generic 550W PSU (its got 18a on the 12v rail) blew up for some reason:)
Im running AMD Phenom 9950, MSI 260GTX OC, 4GB OCZ reapers 1066MHZ on a gigabyte 780g Mobo.
Im currently living in Lebanon and good quality PSU's are REALLY hard to find. Can you please tell me a PSU with decent specs required to run my 260GTX? and the amps on the 12v rail. I know nvidia says 36a and min 500W but i think thats a bit overkill. Would REALLY appreciate if you could help.
Thanks to my favorite Expert.

Answer If the manufacturer specification is for 36A available on the +12V (either as the combined sum of multiple rails, or a single rail), I would suggest you follow that specification. Your previous power unit was ill-suited to handle the load you've presented, and I would count it as luck that no other hardware is damaged as a result (At least that we know thus far).
I would suggest buying a power supply capable of handling the components you have, in addition to handling any future upgrades, appropriately. Based on the system you've got, I would look at PC Power & Cooling's Silencer 750W very seriously, if PC Power & Cooling is unavailable in your area, consider other well regarded brands, such as Corsair, Seasonic, or Enermax. Again, follow the manufacturer suggestion of 36A on the +12V rail, and capacity of at least 500W (if not higher), and you shouldn't have issues.
