ive been thinking for a while and i really wanna try anal sex but every1 says it really hurts on first time and is putting me off of doing it, is this true? and if so how long will it hurt for?

Yes, this is true...it hurts. However, think about when you were a virgin and you had sex for the first time: it probably hurt. This is because your anus is not use to anything but exits. It will take a few times but you will get used to it and it will not hurt anymore.
