Question
Hello!

I am helping my brother plan his honeymoon and need advice on traveling from the port of pireaus-athens and port of thira-santorini.  Is there a hydrofoil or speed ferry they can take on or about May 22 2010?  If yes-how long is it? The only information I seem to be able to find is ferry service that takes about 9 hours.  Please advise if there is another "boat" option they can take that is faster.

Thanks so much!
Stacy

Strangely and often with little convenience for those such as you planning a trip well in advance, ferry schedules are often not finalised until January.

It is likely there will be a faster service on a "flying dolphin" or hydrofoil type ship, and best to watch www.hellenicseaways.gr for this.

For all announced/available ferries in Greece you can check on www.gtp.gr where you type in the start and end of journey ports and the system will give you available services.

The journey should take 4-5 hours and we would expect it to run again from April or the beginning of May

Hope the honeymoon is wonderful and Santorini is a teat and delight.

You may find http://www.superbgreece.com/Santorini/index.htm a guide to Santorini, informative.

Happy travels and best wishes to you and to your brother

Roger
