Question
QUESTION: Hi there,

Iam wanting to get from Corfu to Meteroa then from there to Delphi and onto Athens.

I have been reading previous posts about buses and trains and was wondering if you could possibly give me all the bus times for the trip of Igomenitsa to Ioannina (ie all 8 per day times), Ioannna to Kalambaka (ie all 7 per day times) and then the best and cheapest way to get from Meteroa to Delphi in a day and all the train and bus times for that as well.

Sorry to ask for all of them..l have just noted that you always give starting time only on this website and l actually need all the times if possible. I will be travelling in mid July if that makes a difference with the timetables. If there is a particular website l can look up train and bus timetables online would you mind sending me that as well.
I have also heard that you can get tourist cards for 10 days travel for 43 euro for unlimited number of travels on every route served by the railway Hellenic railways (2nd class) and CH buses. Do you know if such a pass still exists and would such a pass cover the buses and trains l would be wanting to take?
Thanks so much!!

ANSWER: Yiasou Emily, thankyou for the question,

I do not have all the times at the moment, but let me check and get back to you in a another day or so...perhaps I can find them somewhere.

QUESTION: Hey Denny....just wondering if you were able to find those timetables anywhere. Also can you tell me if the 10 day travel pass for 43 Euro still exists? See quesion above. many thanks!!
ANSWER: Yiasou Emily, Thanks for the reminder ... couldn't find the original e-mail ...

BUS leaves for IOANNINA at 6:30 AM ... and then every 90-minutes...IE: 6:30 - 8:00 - 9:30 - 11:00 - 12:30pm - 2:pm -
3:30 - (a break) - 6:30pm and 8PM ...(8-eu about)

IOANNINA to KALAMBAKA ...3-per day ... 8:30 - 11:30 2:30.
3-hr trip about 9-euro.

KALAMBAKA to LAMIA (on the bus to Athens) 7:AM and aproximately every 2-hours thereafter. 3-hrs...about 10-euro.

LAMIA to DELPHI ... 2-hrs ...M-Sat ...3-per ... 10:40AM
12:45PM - 7PM ... SUN: just the last 2-go. (about 7:euro)

The tourist card is indeed still in existance ... but I believe it is 45-euro on the CH BUS routes.  The trains are presently going thru alot of changes and I am not sure of anything except they still run from Athens to Patra (change at Corinth) and Athens and the NORTH...Lamia & Thessaloniki...

Check with the tourist agencies in Athens (Syndagma area) for those BUS/TRAIN CARDS (also check at the airport when you enter the country at the info station).

Good luck]
Let me know how the trip goes

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: Thanks so much Denny for all those times and informations. I just have a couple more questions.
I need to know the best and hopefully cheapest was to get from Delphi to Nafplion on a Sunday evening in July. Should l catch the bus to Patras and then to Corinth and then to Nafplion? Or should l go back to Athens and catch a bus from there? What do you advise....and also if you could once again provide timetable times for a Sunday afternoon and evening that would be great!!!

Is it possible to do both Mycenae and Epidavros on a day trip from Nafplion by bus?

Do you happen to now what the number for the Corinthian Beach Hostel is and if they are still open? I have been trying all the numbers on the websites that l can find but none of them are working. (ie. 0030 0741 0 80028).
Can you suggest anywhere else very cheap to stay in Corinth?

We have to catch public transport from Corinth to Pireaus on a Thursday morning in July and arrive no later than 11:30 in Pireaus. Can you tell me if it is better to catch the train or bus- is there any way to bypass Athens? And once again the price and timetable for a wed morning.

Iam arriving from Corfu to Igoumensita before doing all the rest of my trip. Do you think it would be possible to buy the Tourist Card there? And what do you mean by the CH bus routes....is this only a certain type of bus?

Thanks again for all your help!!!!! It has saved me so much stress and time and you are making my dream Greece trip possible!!!

Emily

Answer
Yiasou again Emily,

On you 1st part...DELPHI to Patras Sunday evening...Don't show any busses going that way at all on sunday. Only choice is going via Athens.

Athens is about 12-euro.  3-hrs, 6-per day.  Last one for the day leaves at 6:PM .   One before that goes around 4:30.

From Athens...Take the bus to Corinth...1 1/2 hrs (6-euro), leaves from Larisis station every 30-minutes (fm: 5:45am to 10:00PM).  You CAN catch the late busses to Corinth if you catch the 6:PM out of Delphi.

Will check on the Corinthian-Beach-Hostel for you at length.  In meantime check out BLUE DOLPHIN on Lecheon Beach,6-kliks outside of town of Corinth.  Both rooms and camping facilities... their web site is:
  www.camping-blue-dolphin.gr   Tel: 27410-25-766

Corinth-Athens 1 1/2 hours by bus(9=Euro?), every 30-min beginning at 0500.   Cannot find any Piraeus stop .  Take METRO to Piraeus (Port), 1-Euro...from Bus station in Athens. 30-min. trip. should get you there in plenty of time. Take the bus...train time tables to/fm Peleponesse are all screwed up this year.

Sorry: Busses are KTEL (changed from  CH)

FINALLLLLLY:  Yes, you can do Mycenae and Epidavros out of Nafplion in one day.  But I think they are 2=separate trips.  Take the trip to MYCENAE first ... they both leave around 10-am, the distance is nearly the same...45-minutes.
But where Mycenae has just 3-bus trips per day (10-12-2),
EPIDAVROS has a late trip that goes at 5:30PM,  just incase you decided to dally in Mycenae, where the ruins are quite extensive and it takes longer to visit.

good luck
Havea safe trip

Both tours begin at 10-Am and return around noon, and then go again in the afternoon.
