Question
Hi Denny

As part of a long trip we'll be ariving in Igoumenitsa from Bari around the 18th August. Basically I'm after some advice about how best to strucutre our trip. On the agenda are Athens & Santorini. Is it best to go to Athens then Santorini or vice versa. What are the transport links like to either - from Igoumenitsa.

Also, we're looking to go to Turkey After Greece, would the train from Athens (Thesaloniki?) be better or a ferry from Rhodes etc, does that all work with trasport links and such?

Finally, we have a 2yr old with us, whch might make a difference..

thanks in advance.

Darren

Answer
Yiasou Darren,

Followup...Yiasou Darren,

REF: your trip...

Due to an over abundance of tourism this year (as is the case every year)...this note of caution:

IN AUGUST you are not likely to get a ferry ticket to Santorini or Mykonos, unless you have confirmed lodging on whichever island you wish to stay.  This will hold true at least thru the 26th of the month.

Absolutely no seats on the Fast Boats without reservation a week ahead of time.

Regular ferrys might have some space IF you have a room on the island you are going to.

Denny

PS: lori@windmills-travel.com in Athens might be able to help you out...or at least advise.
