Hi !
I am Bakul Shah from India. WE have plan to visit Crete, Rhodes and Athens in month of November 10th to 24th November 2007. We had done hotel booking in Crete and Rhodes for our stay. We are a group of 40 persons .I would like to have some information and clarity. Please allow me to ask you so many questions at a time :
1 Is it worth to visit during this time to Crete and Rhodes ?
2 Which season would be there ?
3 What would be temperature during November 2007 ?
4 How many days required to see Athens ?
5 Should we hire bus or hire 4 ( Self Drive )car with the capacity of 10 persons ?
6 do we get spl discount if we do group booking ?
7 Which would be the best hotel to say in Athens ( it should be neat and clean) what it cost if we do group booking ?
8 What should be the cost for sight seen in and around Athens ?
9 Is it need to visit Corfu?
10 Do we get pure vegetarians food in Crete, Rhodes and Athens ?( We don't eat eggs also)
What would be total transportation cost to visit Athens , Crete and Rhodes ?
Awaiting for your reply..
Regards .
Bakul Shah
Answer Yiasou Bakul, Got your other question and answered parts of this Q at that time ...
but as for SOME of the remainder ...
Crete and Rhodes are both open in November...however the weather will likely be cloudy, rainy and rather cool...specially at nite. Of the two places for your partyto go to I would say RHODES would be the better stop as it has alot of Eastern influence and you are likely to find more restaurants suitable to your eating habits. Stay in the old town as it is very interesting to walk the cobblestone streets and the narrow passageways.
I would say 3 nites in ATHENS should be enough.
Most of the sites are within walking distance IF you stay downtown in the PLAKA area. Hotels will give you very special rates (especially at this time of year) for a group of 40! Normally a modest room would be 50 a nite for 2-people, but for a group of 40, you could probably negotiate down to 15-20 euro a nite per person.
As I said, from Syndagma square it is easlily walkable to the changing of the guard, National gardens, Olympic Stadium, National Museum, Plaka/flea market, ancient Roman and Greek ruins, Theater and Acropolis.
In addition ATHENS PLAKA area has a very nice eating establishment called EDEN VEGETARIAN RESTAURANT...www.edenvegetarian.gr (Wonderful place!).
in OMONIA (Downtown area) there is also the PAK INDIAN RESTAURANT and a nearby HEALTHY FOOD VEGETARIAN RESTAURANT too...it is on Panepistimiou street #57.
I believe that a BUS would be the way to go in and around Athens ... Ask the tourism service in India to make the connections for you...or check in the PLAKA AREA when you arrive, at the many agencies that flourish there.
If you go PATRA to BRINDISI by ferry you will be stopping in CORFU. It is nice, but noted more for its beaches and summer time activities then activity in November/December. Spend no more then a day.
Your best bets in November are RHODES/ATHENS/ROMA.
Getting into sites in Athens will be inexpensive...just a few euros to enter the Acropolis / Museums.
