We had booked Leonie residency, Crete and Sun beach club at Rhodes Island
We would like to visit Italy also. Do you have any idea about going Crete from Italy? What would be approximately cost? Can you suggest good iternery
We are pure vegetarian (we are not eating eggs also). Could we have vegetarian food over there?
Regards.

Answer yiasou Bakul, thankyou for the question,
Vegans and Vegetarians can make do in Greece IF they do not mind making a meal of APPETIZERS...Greenbeans (fah-so-LAH-kia), Greek salad (ho-ree-ah-tee-KEE), spinach pie (spa-na-KO-pee-ta), and boiled greens (hor-TAH), ASK BEFORE YOU ORDER. AS Many seemingly vegetarian entrees (like the myriad of stuffed vegetables) can contain meat. CRETE is noted for fish, meat and dairy products as opposed to Northern Greece where there is a large MUSLIM populace and HALAL restaruants are not that rare.
try the site www.vrg.org/travel ...might be of assistance.
In November IF the weather is good...you may be able to catch a ferry from KASTELI in the far western part of Crete that will take you very cheaply to GYTHION in the Southern Peleponesse...(10-Euro)2 1/2 hr trip. From there you will have to trek across the Peleponesse by bus to PATRA and from there to Brindisi or Bari. Ask as agent in Hereklion or Chania if the ferry still sails at that time of the year.
(sometimes they cut back due to lack of PAX going).
The normal way would be to go ANEK lines out of Chania in Souda Bay area (Western Crete) or Hereklion in the North central portion of Crete...Nightly ships sail (when Weather permits) to PIRAEUS...(board about 7 depart 8 and arrive around 5 AM in Piraeus)...From there you would have to TRAIN (or bus) 4-hours accross Peleponesse to Patra and make the connection to Italy as stated. Probably looking at 100-Euro each for the total Crete-Piraeus-Patra-Brindisi(Bari).
Or you can fly to Athens and then onto Rome, as flights will be easy to get in the late fall months...but the price will probably be triple to Roma.
