you have the les paul jnr 1957 re-issues? there good guitars cause i have one :D
as for your amp have you tried putting the gain to 10 and give it a bit of bass?
other than that look into buying an fx pedal which distortion pre-sets, i use a distortion called "us hi-gain" and its a beauty
