Question QUESTION: hi me again, i know billie uses a shure sm58 but what does he run it through what sort of pa and speaker and what wirless system? also i have read the book nobody likes you by marc spits and it says one picture of green day was taken by doug, is he you lol many many thanks karl

Billie just plugs his mic straight into the P.A. The mic he uses is a Shure SM58 UHF Wireless, and an SM58 on one song. He goes through three to four mics a show, from sweat and beatings. His mics also have a Distressor Limiter in them. For P.A's they use Clair Bros. P.A., on a normal show they have 14 i4s per side with 12 i4Bs on the front hang; eight i4s and six i4Bs on the side hang; 10 ground-stacked subs per side; and six P2 frontfills. They use the Clair iO system to tune stuff. That's some general stuff for you but if you need more specifics just tell me, but that's what Billie Joe's voice is going through at the shows now a days.

ANSWER: Well the SM58 UHF Wireless is basically a step up from the one you have. So that should be fine. But that's close the mic Billie uses and that's all you need. Technically the Shure SM58 UHF Wireless is his main mic but the one you have is one he also uses and should work fine.
Well if you have a Clair Bros. PA (pretty pricey) the standard setting will do. Billie likes to keep things simple (no effects, no pedals, no voice processing) so nothing is between his mouth and the P.A except the mic and the Distressor Limiter. They can cost around 1,000 USD. If you want to spend the money,
-eBay has one right now. Otherwise you'll have to go to a serious audio store to pick one up. That's about it for Billie and his mic setup.

Answer Well you can't buy Clair Bros. systems because they are for bands that are serious and rich. They tour with the bands, but the bands don't buy them, they just rent them for the tour. You can't buy a Clair Bros. small P.A. Sorry.
Also with Cigarettes and Valentines, whoever stole the master tapes has yet to leak it yet, so its not available. But to give you some clue Green Day said it was a combination of Nimrod and Warning. They also said it wasn't maximum Green Day and that Rob Cavallo said it was mediocre at best.
