Growing Vegetables - Butternut squash

Expert: Mike Mascio - 10/12/2009

Question
because of the early frost and freeze some of our squash is still has green veins on the skin. will these squash continue to mature after picking?

Answer
Squash will continue to ripen after removing them from the vine, although the process will be slower than if left on. Just store them in a cool, dark place such as a basement or garage.

Good luck, and please write again if I can ever provide assistance.

Regards,

Mike
