Growing Vegetables - Cantalope

Expert: Elyse Grau - 6/18/2009

Question
My 3 Cantalope plants have gone wild, they are taking over my garden.  Is there a way to trim them back to try and contain them.  If so where can I trim the vines without hurtung the plants??

Answer
Tamara:
Congratulations! Hope you have lots of melons, not just vine. You can head the vines back anywhere you need to. You will get bigger melons that way, anyway. You can also train them up a trellis, if you provide some support for the melon. I use old nylon stockings to create little "slings" whenever I grow mine up.
