AboutKindred Beisinger penname K D Elizabeth Beisinger Expertise I can answer questions about natural gardening. We refer to our type of gardening as Orthodox organic. We do not use chemicals of any kind for pest control or plant growth. I can offer information regarding the growth of herbs and spices, as well. I can also share some canning and freezing tips for enjoying home grown vegetables year round. Growing vegetables provides healthy benefits for the body and the mind.
Experience We live on what I believe is now termed a hobby farm. We are Messianic missionaries and raise all of our own vegetables, and some fruit. The change in the grocery budget is absolutely amazing.

Question I live in NE Texas This is my first year to garden I did square foot gardening but had no luck at all with my tomatoes so far. I bought very nice looking plants from HD, Lowes, and Walmart. I decided to keep them in pots as the ones I planted got very ill looking and stopped producing. But even in the pots I have nice looking plants but no tomatoes. Help?? I wanted to can my own sauces this year but not looking very plausible right now.
Answer Dear Janene,
If you have nice looking plants and no tomatoes, it may be a pollination issue. Do you have blooms? It's still early in the season, so check with a local nursery and make inquiry. If you have blooms, then it's a lack of pollination. If there are no blooms, it's another issue that may have something to do with the plants being hybrid.
I understand your desire to can. I just love it every year and we so enjoy it through the winter.
Kind Regards,
KD
