Growing Vegetables - vegetable garden

Expert: Elyse Grau - 6/14/2009

Question
Do you leave the suckers on the tomatoes; the white blooms on the peppers.  I have planted squash, cucumbers and the mentioned and I'm not sure what to pick and what to leave. Once the tomatoes are growing do I need to keep adding miracle grow around my plants and just continue to water. Any help is appreciated.

Answer
Sandra:
You can leave the suckers on the tomatoes, removing them produces a stronger center stem and few side shoots, but if you have enough room between plants it is not necessary. Removing the flowers from any fruiting plant is removing the developing fruit! Do not feed your tomatoes, just keep them evenly watered.
