I can help with idle questions, everyday problems to serious health problems but I always sugget seeing a vet!
Experience I have had 14 guinea pigs in my life with more to come. I have volunteered at the local shelter just to work with the small animals on a weekly basis and I have been to countless vets to soak up there advice, as well as looking in my 50 something books on guinea pigs. I know almost everything I can wrap my head around about guinea pigs!
Sometimes my husband, who is an exotic bird vet/guinea pig fanatic helps me with the questions to!
Organizations I belong to S.A.R.S. BC. It stands for Small Animal Rescue Shelter.
Publications The Vancouver sun.
Education/Credentials I have taken community courses for pet care, including small animals, but I have not been to school formal education (I am not a vet).
Currently I am in the process of becoming a published author and I have my degree in creative writing. Someday I will have my masters. I teach local classes for advanced creative writing and literature for teens.
Awards and Honors I have had my writing published in the paper for the fourtenth time about animal pet care facts. Nothing big, just me and a few other writers.

Question
Two weeks ago when I got Shadow, he's a tiny little 3 month old male, American shorthair piggy, he's been one heck of a chatterbox, especially when you hold him, he likes to naw on his cage now %26 then %26 at night even though he eats a lot %26 has plenty of food %26 he likes to dig near the wall I built that seperates the cage, so he has his side %26 Ginney has his side until next month when Shadow get's his own cage. Since Ginney's in heat, he digs when he hears Shadow %26 Shadow digs when he hears him. Now my question is, is it normal for him to be a chatterbox when he get's petted, to naw on the cage when he has plenty of food %26 to dig like he does? Why does he do that? Also, he will not eat carrots, only red leaf lettuce, he nibbles on the carrots %26 spits out the pieces, why is that? Me, Shadow %26 Ginney thanks you for your help.
Answer Hi agian Chaz!
Agian thank you for the lovely pics. I just answered your other question, so this one is done the same way.
1) Being a chatter box is very normal, He is just expressing his love for you.
2) Nawing on cage bars is normal as well. He is most likely bored, here is a link to a great site with some toy options: http://www.guineapigcages.com/toys.htm'
3) Digging is normal. Why? He is looking for poo poos to eat. Old dryed out poo poos help with there digestion. Gross eh?
4) He ate too much carrot, he dosent like the taste of it or he enjoys wating your money ;)
Hope this helps!
