Guinea Pigs - Nails

Expert: Aleksandra Gawor - 7/1/2009

Question
Hi,

I was trying to clip my guinea pigs nails today and noticed that many of the nails have darkened almost looking like dirt after the quick and I'm afraid that it is some kind of fungus or infection.  What do I do?

Thanks

Answer
Hello,
Make sure your guineas nails are clean and not just dirt under there, some guineas do tend to have different coloured nails, usually black or pink. Please take your guinea to the vet if your guinea seems in pain or discomfort.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help
