About BG_Piggy Expertise I can answer most questions about breeding, social behavior, cage space, and raising guinea pigs. I also know many links that can help you learn about your guinea pig.
Experience I own 4 guinea pigs and I am a very close friend of a breeder who has been breeding for more than 20 years.
Question I recently purchased a rather large guinea pig from a pet store, and she was housed with a male. I have had her for a few weeks, and she seems to be getting "rounder", "fuller", or "fatter" however you want to put it. She doesnt like to be touched on her stomache but is other wise very friendly. The people at the pet store said she might be pregnant. I am 13 years old, and my mom said that I can keep oneof the female babies (if she is pregnant!), and I have found very good homes for up to 10. So, I am not worried at all if she is, but do you think she sounds like she is?
Thanks for your time,

Answer She definitely sounds as if she is pregnant. If she is you should gather a small emergency kit containing: a few small hand towels (to clean the babies ONLY IF THE MOM DOESN'T CLEAN THEM OFF HERSELF), a cardboard box (to hold the babies in while you wait for the next arrival), an eye dropper (to clean out their throats if you think they are choking), and keep some whole milk in your fridge in case the mother abandons them (which she will if she doesn't have a strong mothering instinct). After a few weeks you will be able to see the babies (pups) moving inside her. I hope your piggy pregnancy goes well.
