Guitar - General - amps and cabinets

Question
i am thinking about buying a marshall class5 amp. my question is about connecting it to an extension cabinet. the manual for the amp says it can be connected to a 16ohm cabinet. i dont have a lot of knowledge in this area and was wondering if it has to be a 16ohm cabinet, or anything lower than that as well, for example an 8ohm cabinet. i apologize if this seems like a stupid question, like i said i have little knowledge for this type of thing.

Answer
Hey Dustin, it has to be 16 Ohms. That doesn't totally limit you though, you can use one 16 Ohm speaker, 2 8 Ohms in series, 2 16's in Parallel or 4  8 ohm speaker wired in standard Series Parallel configuration. Hope that helps, if you need anything else, just drop me a line.
Peace - J.
