Guitar - General/Alvarez Yari DY85

Question
QUESTION: Hi Jason,
I'm trying to research a guitar I picked up new back in 1980 - 1981!  I don't think I want to sell it as the sound is so great, but I should at least know the value for insurance purposes!

Its an Alvarez Yari DY85 and it is signed by Yari!  There is extensive mother of pearl inlay around the entire sound box and up the finger board!  Do you have any info on this?

Anything you can tell me would be appreciated!

Steve

ANSWER: I'll need to know the condition. Is it mint? Near mint? Fair?

QUESTION: Regarding the Yari DY85, its in mint condition I would say! Near mint at the very least!

Answer
I've been doing some research for you over the last few days to get some info. From what I have seen, the buying price for that particular model varies wildly. But, seeing as it's an Alvarez Yari (I have a '76 model that I love), I would hold onto it. Yari's are beautiful instruments and should be cherished. If you are still looking for an estimate, your best option would be to take it in and get it appraised at a vintage guitar shop in your area.
