Question QUESTION: Hi Lynne
I will be a bass player.I'm so close to buy a bass guitar. But I've some questions.I listen hard rock a lot and I want to play it on bass.So there are two kind of basses.Precision and Jazz.Precisions have just single separated coil p pickups but jazz basses has two single coiled jazz pickups.Anyway.Whivh kind of them are more suitable for rock.Jazz or Precission.I know its my choice but ı want to ask you
Yours truly
Goker Ardali
ANSWER: Hi, Goker--
If those are the only two basses you will consider, then I definitely recommend the Precision.
I do encourage you to check out other basses, specifically those with "active" pickups. These pickups are much more powerful and make possible a much broader range of technique.
QUESTION: Hi Lynne again one more question,
Why do you prefer precision bass for rock genres. Why not a jazz bass? Can you please tell me.
Answer Hi, Goker--
It is, of course, a matter of personal preference, but I simply like the sound of the P bass better for Rock. It has a much fatter bottom end sound and tends to be more capable of supporting the sound of most rock music.
The Jazz Bass, on the other hand, has a more treble and crisp sound which, in my opinion, makes for a less fat, full sound.
