Guitar - General/Binding Cracks

Question
I've got an old '58 Hofner Senator, but it's got a fair few cracks in the binding. Is this only an aesthetic problem, as the guitar aside from this is in near mint condition. If it's a bad problem, is it really expensive to get fixed?

Cheers,
Aaron

Answer
Hey Aaron, it's probably only aesthetic, but I'd have it looked at by a professional just in case. As for how much it would cost to fix, I wouldn't know. Considering the age of the instrument, it might be best to just not mess with it, as it could seriously depreciate the value. I would maybe bring to an appraiser before going to a luthier. Hope that helps, if you need anything else, just drop me a line.
Peace - J.

Experience

I have been playing guitar for over 30 years & tour regularly with my band River City Junction. We play a mix of Blues, Jazz, Funk, Motown, R&B & Classic Rock so I can help answer any questions related to these genres as well. I also have extensive experience using many different brands of guitars, amplifiers & effects. I do most of my own work on my guitars, preferring not to let anyone else touch them so unless it's a regret or something that requires an actual luthier, it's taken care of in house. I also build & repair my own pedals & tube amps, so I can help with questions of a technical nature with regards to these subjects as well.
