Guitar - General/Tone Pot repair

Question
Hello Jason, I have a Jackson JS 20 with a faulty tone pot,
i know a little bit about electronics and I know I could
repair it myself, my question is, I believe potentiometers
come in different Ohm ranges, and I have no clue which
resistance ranges my guitar, or any guitar for that matter,
uses, Id really appreciate any insight on this.
Thanks, Julien

Answer
Hey Julian, don't bother trying to repair it, just replace it. It's most likely 250K, but it could be 500. It should say on the back or side somewhere, but you can also check it with an ohm meter once you take it out, then just bring it to the store with you. Hope that helps, if you need anything else, just drop me a line.
Peace - J.

Experience

I have been playing guitar for over 30 years & tour regularly with my band River City Junction. We play a mix of Blues, Jazz, Funk, Motown, R&B & Classic Rock so I can help answer any questions related to these genres as well. I also have extensive experience using many different brands of guitars, amplifiers & effects. I do most of my own work on my guitars, preferring not to let anyone else touch them so unless it's a regret or something that requires an actual luthier, it's taken care of in house. I also build & repair my own pedals & tube amps, so I can help with questions of a technical nature with regards to these subjects as well.
