Question
HELLO SIR,
I'M A LITTLE BIT CONFUSED AND I DO NEED YOUR HELP.I'M AN AMATEUR GUITAR PLAYER AND I PLAY JUST FOR FUN.I WANT TO BUY A NEW ( CLASSICAL ELECTRIC USB GUITAR FOR $299.00) AND START RECORDING MYSELF PLAYING.
WHICH ONE WILL SOUND BETTER ?
A CLASSICAL USB GUITAR (RECORD DIRECT TO MY PC) OR A CLASSICAL GUITAR WITH A MICROPHONE ?
I THINK BYING A MICROPHONE WILL COST ME MORER...I WANT TO DO THAT THE CHEAPEST WAY...
THANKS A LOT AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS.

Answer
Hey Med, I don't even know if you can get a USB guitar, but if you can, I'm absolutely positive that a cheap ass classical guitar miked up with a toy computer mic running directly into your computer's cheap on board sound card would sound a million times better than an active piezo running through a USB cable. That's just my opinion, some might disagree, but I *HATE* the brittle sound of piezo pickups. You could buy a cheap little 2nd hand Yamaha student classical guitar for 75 - 150 bucks & the buy yourself an Apogee One if you're running a Mac or a USB Mic if you're on PC & you'll get way better results than if you go with a USB guitar. Hope that helps bud, if you need anything else, just drop me a line!
Peace - J.

Experience

I have been playing guitar for over 30 years & tour regularly with my band River City Junction. We play a mix of Blues, Jazz, Funk, Motown, R&B & Classic Rock so I can help answer any questions related to these genres as well. I also have extensive experience using many different brands of guitars, amplifiers & effects. I do most of my own work on my guitars, & I also build & repair my own pedals & tube amps, so I can help with questions of a technical nature with regards to these subjects as well.
