Guitar - General/un capoing songs

Ok so my question is how do you find what chord to play when you take the capo of like say the capo is on the 3rd fret and you play a c shape how would you find out what chord that is without the capo

Hey Jose, you check the actual notes in the chord itself. So in your case, if you're capped at the third fret playing a C shape, then you'd be playing an Eb Major. Basically you have to learn all your note values for each string on your neck & then learn all of the notes that are in each chord. Hope that helps.

I have been playing guitar for over 30 years & tour regularly with my band River City Junction. We play a mix of Blues, Jazz, Funk, Motown, R&B & Classic Rock so I can help answer any questions related to these genres as well. I also have extensive experience using many different brands of guitars, amplifiers & effects. I do most of my own work on my guitars, & I also build & repair my own pedals & tube amps, so I can help with questions of a technical nature with regards to these subjects as well.
