About Bill Ruxton
Expertise
What kind of old guitar do I have? Is it valuable? How old is it? Where was it made? Is it worth repairing? Advice on buying new or used guitars, accessories, etc. [Note: While I can give some general info on approximate values of types of instruments, neither I nor anyone else can do an "appraisal" without actually seeing and handling the instrument] I have almost 40 years` experience as a player and afficianado. If I don`t have an answer myself, I can often refer people to other authoritative sources.

Question
I have a Guild Bladerunner guitar and I can't seem to find any info about it. Do you have any info on Guild Bladerunners?

Answer
Dear Melanie,

All I can tell you about the Guild Bladerunner is that it was Guild's futile venture into the world of wacky rock 'n roll metal machines of the 1980s.  The model never caught on, possibly because Guild had never been much of a factor among rock n' roll players, or maybe because it was just too weird and awkward to hold.

Anyway, is it rare?  Yes, fairly - Guild didn't make many, because they didn't sell.  Is it valuable?  Maybe, but to whom?  I saw one of these for sale online recently that was claimed to be new old stock, i.e., never sold.  The seller was asking $1300, and I don't know if he got that price.

If you go to Google.com and search on "Guild Bladerunner Guitar," you might still find the ad, and perhaps some other info.

If you like it, that's all that counts.

Hope this helps.  Take care of it, and have fun with it,

Bill
