About Bill Ruxton Expertise What kind of old guitar do I have? Is it valuable? How old is it? Where was it made? Is it worth repairing? Advice on buying new or used guitars, accessories, etc. [Note: While I can give some general info on approximate values of types of instruments, neither I nor anyone else can do an "appraisal" without actually seeing and handling the instrument] I have almost 40 years` experience as a player and afficianado. If I don`t have an answer myself, I can often refer people to other authoritative sources.
Question I just bought a 80's Jackson Rhoads Concept mij Guitar. My question is "what is the CONCEPT version and is there any info on it?"
Answer Dear David,
As far as I know, the Concept line were the less-expensive Asian-made versions of the USA-made Dinky Reverse model.
Jackson made umpteen different variations on these and their other models, and it's hard to date them precisely with different pickups and wiring configurations, tremelos, finishes, and so on.
Many of the older MIJ models on the 'used' market have had their pickups and/or other wiring components replaced, professionally or otherwise, since the original components on these were among the main cost-cutting factors.
Hope this helps. It's a Rock 'n Roll Machine, Dude, Have Fun with it,
