Guitar - General/Vintage Guitar

Question
Old Kraftsman
Beautifully scrolled topneck
Ivory tuning pegs -beautifully etched hardware
Heavy silk twined strap with tasseled ends

Excellent Shape - Still keeps tune!

Pictured with my dad April 1942 Fort Cambell, Kentucky.

By possible accounts, he was given the guitar in Sept of 1931 as a confirmation gift.

Can you tell me anything more about it? Or point me to someone who can?

Answer
Hi Reverend Cindy,

Not exactly sure what it is you want to know, but I can offer these tid bits of info if it helps you in any way.

1. it is a Speigel "Old Kraftsmen Model
2. it was actually made by the Kay guitar company, this model and several others, were sold in the department store catalogs.
3. it has dual humbuckers, very nice detail and was available as early the 30's it's inception.

these models are not without issues however, Kays are notorious for having bad neck sets and broken truss rod systems, so that could be a negative, otherwise very detail oriented and plays nicely.

hope this has helped you some, Vito
