Re: Mansfield guitars: I did some digging as I was going to buy one and found out they are pre Ibanez and some are very sought after. I can't tell you much more but try google Ibanez and Mansfield and you'll find what your looking for.

I believe Mansfield guitars where made in Japan by Ibenaz and and sold under the Mansfield name but there was a law suit by Gibson and they had to stop making them and any that where not sold had to be destroyed  now thats what I heard how true it is ??  Hope that's some help so if you have one keep it because there are not many around

Mansfield Guitars were made for and imported by Peate Music Supply's located on Mansfield St Montreal Canada. They were manufactured in Asia and were Giibsons, Epiphones as well as other popular brands.

I had a 6 string acoustic that sounded amazing. I also had a 12 string acoustic that was not treated well and had a bow in the top. It looks good but is not playable.

The website for Peate and specifically Mansfield is:

Hope this helps.

What kind of old guitar do I have? Is it valuable? How old is it? Where was it made? Is it worth repairing? Advice on buying new or used guitars, accessories, etc. [Note: While I can give some general info on approximate values of types of instruments, neither I nor anyone else can do an "appraisal" without actually seeing and handling the instrument] I have almost 40 years` experience as a player and afficianado. If I don`t have an answer myself, I can often refer people to other authoritative sources.
